Lyric Entry HELP

For RTS help (if you generate gibberish!), Click here

We would like to build up a comprehensive collection of the lyrics to Ghantasala songs on this website. Please help by entering as many lyrics as you can!

Please use the Rice Transcription Scheme (RTS) to enter lyrics. This is the standard we follow on this website, and using it consistently will allow us to display the lyrics in Telugu script. Please check here for additional details on RTS.

Enter the lyrics, and fill up as many of the fields requested as possible. While most are fairly self explanatory, here are some of the less obvious ones:

STYLE GUIDE

To maintain consistency across all the lyrics in the site, we request that all new lyrics follow these style guidelines. Editors will try to impose these on the older lyrics;

  1. Repeats should be specified in simple paranthesis eg (2)

  2. Repetition of the pallavi should be specified by 1 or 2 words in simple paranthesis.
    eg: For the pallavi #mOhana rAgamahA#, end of each charanam should have (mOhana), not "mOhana" or |mOhana| etc.

  3. "stage directions" like aame: atadu: etc should be avoided;

  4. All commentary or additional info should be after the pallavi (eg: Raagam)

  5. "aalapana" should be avoided (For example, the #A a a A# before the song #ainadEmO ainadI#). Remember, most of these cannot be read unless the viewer already knows the song. The exception would be single syllables, or extended vowel endings, which are clear in their pronunciation;

  6. Generally speaking, the fullest SUNG version of the song (ie the most complete of the LP, EP, screen versions) should be entered; Portions not sung should either be skipped, or entered in paranthesis, and with an editorial comment, to avoid confusion.

Songs may be edited after submission ONLY by the submitter, or by a Mana Ghantasala editor; Ordinary users who notice a problem with other's lyrics may use the Feedback feature to report to the editors.

Thank you for entering lyrics!

  • Title: Please enter the title of the song (ie. first line of the pallavi, or part of the refrain if that is more suitable). Quite often, the program cannot determine this automatically, eg. If there is a #saaki# etc.,

  • Email: This is a required field. Although it will never be displayed (and you won't get any junk mail either) it is used as a unique user identification. You will need to remember which address you entered if you want to edit your song later.

  • Name: You may use your name, or a Screen name; You may also use this to attribute songs to someone else (eg. if you are copying from a private website, and a condition of their permission is that you attribute the song to them).
