nootan prasad, who was in films earlier (andaalaraamuDu, mutyaala muggu etc) with the name 'vara prasad', changed his name around this time. He became famous after chalicheemalu as the 'nooTokka jillalaki andagaaDu', with a long, absolutely hilarious telephone soliloquy. The film was well produced, directed and acted. It was a modest success. It was one of a crop of small budget Telugu films that came in mid and late 70s that were in a different track from the commercial cinema of the time, focussing on social issues.
