    Comments
The film begins with a dedication in English "Young Hindu unfortunates made to live a living death by a freak of fate, and the curse of society". naagayya played an unusual elderly role in the film. The character played by him was inspired by great social reformer kandukuri viresalingam pantulu. Nagayya's superb acting won critics acclaims; Baburao Patel calling him "paul Muni of India".
    ---------------------------------
It is technically superb and ahead of its time. In an impressive sequence in a moving train where the heroine comes to know about her widowhood the passing landscape is seen in sharp focus through the windows. In 1940 there were no process screen (rear projection) facilities in Madras and V. Santaram was astonished and wondered how it could be done. Ramnath got an old projector and fixed it with a clock mechanism and used a screen made of Organdie which he dipped in Glycerine and it worked. Ramnath sat with K.V.Reddi (a sci. honours graduate) and planned almost overnight.
