siitakOkachiluka ( 1981 )

Summary
This film combines drama with good humor and excellent music by Ilayaraja. Karthik is a teenager and the son of a poor Brahmin woman (Dubbing Janaki), who teaches music for a living. He falls in love with Aruna, a Christian by religion and sister of Sarath Babu who is feared widely in his village for his power, wealth and temper. When he comes to know about the love between his sister and Karthik he sets out to kill both of them in fury. The film ends with the climax leading to a change of Sarath Babu's heart and the union of the lovers after Jaggayya, a Father at the local church intervenes. Silk Smitha plays the role of Sarath Babu's wife who is initially opposed to the union but later tries to unite the couple after she understands the reasons for the failure of her own marriage when Sarath Babu turns unfaithful to her. She is surprisingly good at this role with a decent performance unlike the roles she played later in he career. The film captures very well, the nativity of a village bordering the sea coast with its settings and beautiful locations.
