    There is an anecdote related to this movie. The movie - orginally a novel by Muppala Ranganayakamma (remember her prasnalu javabulu sirshika in andhra jyothi and the one who criticised Viswantha Satyanarayana's Ramayana Kalpavriksham and wrote Ramayana Vishavriksham) an out and out feminist - was plagiarized by Dasari who made this movie with his name listed under story credit. This enraged her leading to a bitter court battle which gave a judgemenet and a hefty compensation in her favour. History repeated itself and Ranganayakamma was later accused of plagiarizing KARTIKA DEEPAM (I think but definitely some Shoban's movie) by K. Ramalakshmi, Arudra's Wife which had a settlement in the court too

    This was later remade in Hindi as 'Mehandi Rang Layegi' with Ashok Kumar, Rekha, Jeethendra, Anitha Raj and Sarada Played the role of the hero's mother originally played by Savithri in Telugu.
