Comments
The film was first made in Tamil (which explains in part Bharati Raja providing the story for it). The music for the Tamil version was provided by the then up-coming young Ilayaraja. Of the original tunes, 'siri malle puvvA' was retained in the Telugu version, while Chakravarty provided original music for the others.
The film rates as one of the best of the movies ever for Sridevi. She portrayed the role of a village girl with flying ambitions and dreams without reigns, with a highly natural touch. But, the lime light in the film is stolen by Chandra Mohan. His extremely sensitive portrayal of 'kunTi' is among the very few screen characters which brought tears to my eyes (others include NTR's roles in 'rakta sambandham', 'baDi pantulu', etc.). A must see for every Telugu, and even non-Telugu.
