The duet "naa sundara suruchira roopaa" filmed on Y. V. raavu, and kaanchanamaala, was sung by the film's music director Ogiraala, and kaanchanamaala, though it was not acknowledged on the records. It is one of the earliest play-back songs in Telugu. The song's "lataangi prEma lataa" tune was staright away lifted from "sharaabi sOch naa kar" (sung by Pankaj Mullick).

The film's story was revolutionary those days, emphasising the painful state of child widows and propagating widow marriages. The year 1939 is a land mark in Telugu film history with the release of raitubiDDa (against the feudal land lords), vandEmaataram (unemployment problem), vara vikrayam (on dowry deaths) along with maLLii peLLi.
