Actor Krishna launched Kurukshetram to compete with this movie with much fanfare only to see it flop miserably. This movie can be called a low - budget BHARI movie. Low budget because one can literally see an actor enacting three portions (ex: Chalapati Rao) and the much publicized under payment to Dhoolipala (the heart of the movie as Sakuni). It seems he was paid "veyyi noota padaharlu" given in a tamboolam. The major asset to the movie was the dialogues penned by the famous poet Kondaveeti Venakata Kavi. and one can see Annagaari viswaroopam in this movie.

Very hanky panky work done to make this movie. A distorted version of Maha Baharatam to suit the image of NTR, the actor playing almost all the main roles.

A poor directorial effort by NTR. NTR virtually distorted the roles to suit his fancy. Pandavas become villians. One can clearly see the defects in the screen play. The film was a big success owing to NTR's image. His performance as Duryodhana however is memorable. Even today one gets to hear his dialogues as Duryodhana, particularly in Maya Sabha beginning with "Panchali Pancha Bharthruka" and Srikrishna Rayabaram scenes. He makes no effort to control his performance. When P.Upendra became the minister of Information and Broadcasting [in V.P.Singh's JD govt.] he went out of his way to express his gratitude to NTR by getting this movie telecast on the national network as a birthday present much against the prevelant rules and norms.
