Summary
Vanisri and Krishnam Raju are an ideal couple and have a son. After some years of blissfull married life Vanisri becomes a mentally unstable and she is weak after - I think - a miscarriage and then in that weakened state she suddenly remembers an unpleasant incident which happened during her younger days. After a long stay in the hospital she is declared as completely cured and returns home. At home everybody treats her as if she is still mentally ill. One scene is very hilarious as her cook sees her with a knife - she wants to cut the vegitables - and tries to divert her attention to grab the knife. Vanisri pleads with everybody to treat her normal but nobody listens to her. Even her kids start to treat her like a stranger. At the end all this leads her to become mentally ill again.

I am not sure about Kannada original, but in telugu Vanisree dies towards the end. One of Vanisree's best performances.

Based on Kannada hit 'Shara Panjara' directed by Puttanna Kanagal with Kalpana playing the main role.

Heroine's name in Kannada original is Kaveri indicating the river Kaveri of Karnatka. Similarly in Telugu Vanisree's character name is Krishnaveni. Like in Telugu version song (Krishnaveni teluginti) in Kannada too there is song which starts with Kaaveri with the similiar literary meaning
